- Wrathchild Multiplayer. (FROZEN). - - - After the release of Wrathchild Act I and the 1.01 patch I didn't really know what I wanted to do except that it wasn't going to be Act II. I was tired of doing single-player story driven game-play. So when oneofthe8devils asked me to work with him on a Wrathchild Multiplayer I was very exited. Multiplayer was never a vital part of my gaming days and I never made anything like this so I said to myself- why the hell not. So my current project is the WcMp (I know the name is lame but that's going to be fixed). - - - The WcMp is (for now and in the original concept) a task driven cooperative multiplayer modification for Doom 3 v1.3.1 . It is in a very early stage, although a lot of the conceptual work, and some of the programming is done. The level design, game-play and other assets of the mod are all forming right now. The difficulty comes from the diversity of players and therefore the ways to achieve a task. - - - Let's say your character is an under-cover agent in an office building, along with another agent. You need to acquire an access card for the upper floor, where your target is. Will you ask a friend to hack into the computer and disable the security grid for just enough time for you to sneak and steal the card? Or will you try and sneak into the office the card is in? If you choose the later, will you ask someone to distract the employee, so he leaves his office, or not? If you don't- will you ask someone to hack into the main computer and give you a map of the ventilation shafts? And if you do how will you access the shaft when you need the access code only the maintenance guy knows... Etc. This is just one of the situations and you have so many choices. Just like in Wc Act I, your choices dictate the game not me. - - - The PDA/HUD system from Wc Act I will not be used here. I have a completely different HUD in mind and I think you will like it. - - - Just like in Wc- violence will not be necessary, and even punished, except in rare cases. - - - The urban architectural design I used in Wc will return even better and more detailed, thanks to the time I spent perfecting it. Further more, while Wc Act II will take a more System Shock2-ish style with claustrophobic hallways, flickering lights, monsters spawning randomly and lack of vital items and ammo, I feel glad to be able to explore the urban side of Wc more in WcMp. - - - Settings will include- High futuristic office buildings with skywalks and lots of windows (with the game-play style mentioned above), and small crowded streets with alleys between low buildings, and a cat and mouse type of game-play. For now that's it. - Wrathchild Act II (Concept) - - - Wc Act II is mostly conceptual for now. Actually the concept is ready and I can see how it will look and work in my head, but I wish to let it stay there for a while and really grow to the fullest. - - - The setting will change dramatically with more of the System Shock look than the Deus Ex look. This includes the game-play and atmosphere too. - - - Wc Act II will continue the story/task-driven game-play of Wc Act I. There will be npc's, stalking (love that word), scavenging and some real battles finally. The PDA/HUD system will be completed and more things will be added to it. Some story lines will unveil and be completed others will evolve and some will begin. Overall the mod will be much more nonlinear, and definitely longer. - - - That's it for now expect update. - Decay (FINISHED) - - - Download Decay from the "Downloads" page. - - - This is a single player mod, for a boss contest in Doom3World. It is now released, and you can find more info for it here: Doom3World . - - - It is one level, as the rules of the contest state, weapon modifications are limited, and the whole map is centered around the boss battle. I say battle because the boss is not really the main concern to the player, his militia is. As the rules state there is a short story attached to it, which will become clear in the process of playing the mod. - - - The name comes from the style of architecture I tried to implement- a futuristic but decaying setting. I am trying to make it look industrial and a little gothic, and I hope the music will help underline the setting. - - - January 31-st 2009 is the final day of the contest.
